As our name implies, Preferred Orthopedics is dedicated to optimizing and individualizing the treatment for participants in sports, recreational activities, and the performing arts, particularly dance medicine. Our team of board certified orthopedic surgeons provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of traumatic and non-traumatic conditions including:

  • Sports related injuries
    • Athletes and those who are physically active sometimes experience a sports injury. The term sports injury, in the broadest sense, refers to the kinds of injuries that most commonly occur during sports or exercise. Some sports injuries result from accidents; others are due to poor training practices, improper equipment, lack of conditioning or insufficient warm-up and stretching.
    • Although virtually any part of your body can be injured during sports or exercise, the term is usually reserved for injuries that involve the muscles, bones, ligaments and tissues. Fortunately, most sports injuries can be treated effectively, and those who suffer them can return to a satisfying level of physical activity once they heal. Even better, many sports injuries can be prevented if people take proper precautions.

  • Flouroscopic spine and joint injections
    • we offer patients epidural steroid injections (ESI) for the lower and upper back. These injections are a combination of a corticosteroid – a strong anti-inflammatory medicine – with a local anesthetic pain relief medicine.
    • Reducing swelling and inflammation can relieve pain by taking pressure off nerves and other soft tissues. The local anesthetic medicine helps give you immediate pain relief. These injections provide relief more quickly than standard corticosteroid medicines.
    • Preferred Orthopedics regularly offers epidural steroid injections to her patients as one of the non-surgical options to help with pain relief.

  • Untrasound guided joint injections
    • appropriate treatment for people with knee arthritis that has failed to respond to more conservative therapy. A solution of hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the knee joint to restore the cushioning and lubricating properties of normal joint fluid. It is useful for people who are trying to delay surgery or are not candidates for knee replacement surgery. Viscosupplementation injections are typically given weekly for 3 or 4 weeks.

  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections
    • given to speed the body's own healing process, and they are replacing traditional orthopedic surgery in many instances for conditions ranging from soft tissue injuries (tendonitis, muscle tears, ligamentous injuries) to various joint afflictions, such as a torn meniscus or mild to moderate arthritis of the joint. In this therapy, platelets are drawn from your own blood supply, and then reinserted in concentrated amounts to harness their power to relieve pain and stop inflammation for orthopedic disorders and injuries.

  • Physical Therapy
    • Once referred by a physician, our therapists will personally meet with you to discuss a customized, effective rehabilitation program. The staff and administration at our facility pride themselves on working together as a team to promote quality, patient-driven care.
    • Our therapists know how to evaluate your body and utilize feedback from our doctors to assess your specific situation. They will then evaluate your physical capabilites to come up with a tailored treatment plan. They will work along side of you every step of the way to amke sure your recovery goes according to plan.
