Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the questions patients ask Personalized Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches most often, from referrals and insurance to what can be done in our office and what to do if you have an urgent problem after hours. If your question is not answered here, call our office and our team will be glad to help.

Still have questions?

For questions about your own condition or treatment, your physician is the right person to ask, either at your visit or by calling our office. For billing or insurance questions, ask for our billing specialists. Our New Patient Information and Insurance and Billing pages also cover scheduling, referrals, what to bring and payments in more detail, and our Patient Forms page has records forms and surgery guides you can download.

In a life-threatening emergency, call 911. For urgent needs after hours, established patients can call our main number to reach our answering service.

Do I need a referral to see an orthopedic specialist?

Most patients can schedule directly with us. If you have an HMO or other managed-care plan that requires a referral, the referral from your primary care physician must reach our office before your visit, or the appointment will need to be rescheduled. Call us and we will tell you what your plan requires.

What insurance do you accept?

We accept Medicare, most commercial PPO plans and workers' compensation. Our staff will verify your eligibility and benefits when you call to schedule. Please bring your insurance card and a photo ID to every visit.

Can I get physical therapy at the same location?

Yes. Our physical and hand therapy team works in the same office as our physicians, so your doctor and your therapist share one chart and one plan. Call our main line and choose extension 1 for physical therapy.

What can be done in your office?

We have X-ray, MRI, ultrasound and fluoroscopy on site, plus an in-office procedure room for epidural and facet injections, radiofrequency ablation and iovera treatment. PRP injections, MLS laser therapy and shockwave treatment are also provided in our Boynton Beach office.

Do you treat work-related injuries?

Yes. We provide coordinated evaluation, treatment and return-to-work planning for workers' compensation cases, and we handle the required documentation with your employer and carrier.

What conditions do you treat?

Our team treats conditions of the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist, back and neck, including arthritis, sports injuries, fractures, tendon problems, nerve compression and spine pain. If you are not sure which specialist you need, call us and we will match you.

How do I make an appointment?

Call our office. Most patients schedule by phone so our team can match them with the right specialist and verify insurance on the same call. You can also send a request through our online appointment form and we will call you back.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, a list of your medications and allergies, any referral your plan requires, and any recent X-rays, MRI reports or records about the problem. Co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles are due at the time of your visit.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard. You can also pay a bill online through our secure bill pay page. For billing or insurance questions, call our office and ask for our billing specialists.

What if I have an urgent problem after hours?

Outside office hours, call our main number to reach our answering service for urgent needs. For a life-threatening emergency, call 911 right away and tell the emergency room staff that you are a patient of ours so they can contact us.

Where are you located?

We are at 6056 Boynton Beach Blvd, Suite 215 in Boynton Beach, on the southwest corner of Boynton Beach Boulevard and El Clair Ranch Road, just east of Jog Road. Patients visit us from across Palm Beach County.

Which hospitals do your surgeons use?

Our surgeons operate at hospitals and surgery centers across Palm Beach County, including HCA Florida JFK Hospital, Bethesda Hospital East and West, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Wellington Regional Medical Center and several outpatient surgery centers. Your surgeon will talk with you about the right setting for your procedure.
