Insurance & Billing
At Personalized Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches, we want you to understand your coverage before you are seen, not after. This page explains which plans we accept, how referrals work, what is due at your visit, which services insurance usually does not cover and who to ask when you have a question about a bill.
Insurance we accept
POPB accepts Medicare, most commercial PPO plans and workers' compensation. Because plans and networks change, the most reliable way to confirm coverage is to call our office before your visit. You can also call the number on your insurance card and ask whether our physicians are in network for your plan.
Verifying your benefits
When you call to schedule, our staff verify your eligibility and benefits. Please have your insurance card handy, and bring it with a photo ID to every visit. If your insurance changes, let us know before your next appointment so we can update your account and check your new coverage.
HMO and managed-care referrals
If your HMO or managed-care plan requires a referral from your primary care physician, the referral must be in our office before your visit. If it has not arrived by the time of your appointment, the visit will be rescheduled. Please coordinate with your primary care physician's office in advance, and remember that some plans also need a new referral for follow-up visits or specific services.
Payments due at your visit
If your plan requires a co-payment, co-insurance or a deductible, it is due at the time of your visit. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard in the office.
Services insurance usually does not cover
Some treatments we offer are usually not covered by insurance. Our team will tell you about expected costs before you decide on one of these options.
- PRP (platelet-rich plasma), stem cell and other biologic injections.
- Hyaluronic acid injections in the hip. Hyaluronic acid is FDA-approved for the knee, and use in the hip is off-label.
- The membership benefits of P3, Dr. Martin's concierge program for hip and knee care. The medical care itself is billed to Medicare or insurance as usual.
Coverage for shockwave therapy and MLS laser therapy varies by plan. Ask our team to check your benefits before you start.
Workers' compensation
If you were hurt on the job, we can coordinate your evaluation, treatment and return-to-work planning. Our team handles the required documentation with your employer and the insurance carrier. When you call, please have your claim number, the date of injury and the carrier's contact information ready, and let us know if an adjuster or case manager is assigned to your claim.
Questions about your bill
If you have a question about a statement, a charge or how your insurance processed a claim, call our office and ask for our billing specialists. Having your statement and your insurance explanation of benefits in front of you will help us answer quickly.
Pay online
You can pay a balance at any time through our secure online bill pay page. Visit Pay Your Bill for details on what you need to complete a payment.
